Long Island’s own Aquarium, Atlantis Marine World offers many exiting exhibits for the whole family.  Atlantis, located at 431 East Main Street in Riverhead, offers both indoor and outdoor activities that can take you from the local coastal marine life to exotic creatures that came from places as far away as Asia, Africa or the Antarctic.  The aquarium is open daily year round (closed for Thanksgiving and Christmas days) from 10 am to 5 pm.    There are a great number of indoor exhibits you can enjoy at Atlantis Marine World.  Some of these exhibits include Moon Jellies that were raised at the aquarium, a Giant Pacific Octopus, Electric Eel, a coral reef, Piranha, and Puffer Fish.  There is an exhibit that examines the local rocky shores of Long Island and a touch tank where you can touch a Sting Ray (Ray Bay) as well as a normal touch tank where one can meet starfish, hermit crabs, clams and horseshoe crabs.  Visitors can also view a Shipwreck/Artificial Reef which includes a variety of fish that are found on or around shipwrecks due to it being a hospitable environment.  These examples are just a few of the many found indoors at Atlantis Marine World.
